Instead, weeks of high-humidity ocean transit have found the seams in a standard single-layer wrap — a portion of the load shows visible mold staining with a musty odor the moment the doors swing open.

The installation schedule stops immediately. The contractor absorbs liquidated damages for every day the rooms stay unfinished — a cost that never appeared on the original purchase order, but becomes the real price of an underspecified packaging line item.

What Actually Causes Moisture Damage in a Sealed Container

Mold growth inside export packaging is rarely one dramatic event. It’s almost always several overlooked conditions compounding over a multi-week transit window.

Condensation forms inside a sealed container regardless of the weather outside

A container that departs a warm, humid port and crosses into cooler waters pushes trapped air past its dew point, producing “container rain” even when cargo started dry. Weak seam integrity lets that moisture migrate through pinholes over time — with no visible tear.

Film molecular structure determines puncture survival and vapor transmission, not just film thickness

A single homogeneous PE layer may resist standing water in a lab test, but not the sustained abrasion of weeks of stacking and multi-leg handling. KaneMan wraps with LLDPE co-extrusion film (Linear Low-Density Polyethylene, multi-layer co-extruded): its controlled molecular chain branching increases tie-layer entanglement between sub-layers, which lowers Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR) and raises puncture resistance compared to a single-resin film of the same gauge. The second, offset-seamed layer closes the pinhole risk the first one leaves behind, since the two layers rarely fail at the same point.

Desiccant chemistry and anti-mold delivery mechanism matter as much as desiccant volume

A fixed sachet size sized for a two-week regional shipment is saturated well before a six-week equatorial crossing completes. KaneMan uses a CaCl2-based (calcium chloride) high-absorption gel desiccant, rated to absorb over 200% of its own weight in moisture, sized to the sealed air volume and total humidity load across the full transit window. Alongside it, gas-phase slow-release anti-mold chips volatilize a controlled antifungal vapor inside the sealed pack; this vapor interferes with the cell membrane function of mold spores, suppressing germination even where localized condensation reaches the fabric surface — a second line of defense for the exact “container rain” scenario described above.

Flute structure determines how much compression strength survives high humidity, not box weight alone

Standard single-wall 3-ply stock loses a meaningful share of both Edge Crush Test (ECT) and Burst Strength Test (BST) rating as ambient humidity rises during transit — precisely when stacking load is highest. KaneMan specifies BC-flute double-wall board: the B-flute layer contributes puncture and cushioning resistance while the larger C-flute layer carries the bulk of the stacking load, and the combined double-wall structure retains a materially higher share of its dry-state ECT and BST rating at high humidity (RH 90%) than an equivalent single-wall carton of similar weight.
