Solution One: Flip It, Feel It — One Mattress, Two Distinct Experiences
We broke away from the single-direction mattress design that’s standard across the industry.
The top side uses a high-density open-cell memory foam layer, formulated for a lower ILD (indentation load deflection) range that gives a slow-rebound, pressure-relieving feel — distributing body weight and softening contact points around the shoulders and hips for guests who want a deep, contouring sensation.
The reverse side uses a high-resilience (HR) polyurethane foam layer at a firmer ILD range with a higher SAG factor — the ratio between 65% and 25% compression load deflection that determines how well a foam resists “bottoming out” under sustained body weight. A higher SAG factor means the foam keeps its supportive structure deeper into the compression curve, which is what prevents the sinking sensation heavier or back-sleeping guests complain about on soft mattresses.
The two foam layers are laminated with a water-based adhesive system rather than solvent-based bonding — chosen specifically because it holds bond strength through repeated flipping and rolling without delamination at the seam line, and avoids the VOC concerns that come with solvent adhesives in enclosed hospitality environments.
For hotels, serviced apartments, and rental properties, this changes the math entirely. No mattress replacement needed — just a single flip. One SKU covers both ends of guest firmness preference, letting procurement teams standardize on a single product across an entire property without carrying multiple firmness variants in inventory.

Within a single large-format mattress, independently pocketed coils are built with different wire gauges and turn counts on each side to produce two distinct firmness responses from the same spring system: a heavier-gauge, lower-turn-count coil on the firm side for load-bearing support, and a lighter-gauge, higher-turn-count coil on the soft side for a more yielding response. Each coil is individually wrapped in a non-woven fabric pocket rather than tied to its neighbors — this is the mechanical detail that actually isolates motion, because a coil that isn’t physically linked to the coils around it cannot transmit compression force sideways when a partner moves.
The spring wire itself goes through a tempering (heat-treatment) process after coiling, which relieves internal stress from the winding process and is what allows the coil to return to its original height thousands of times over the mattress’s service life instead of gradually losing recovery — the difference between a coil that “goes soft” after a year and one that doesn’t.

Does the Structure Survive Roll-Pack Ocean Freight?
A dual-firmness or split-zone structure is only useful to an overseas buyer if it survives the journey. Roll-pack shipping — compressing the mattress and vacuum-sealing it into a fraction of its finished volume to maximize container loading — puts sustained, heavy compression across every layer for the full duration of ocean transit.
This is exactly where a two-density laminated structure is most at risk of failing quietly: if the bond between the soft and firm foam layers is weak, or if the foam formulation doesn’t have enough recovery memory, the mattress can come out of the roll with edge sag, a visible seam line where the layers shifted relative to each other, or a firmness that no longer matches the original spec. None of this shows up in a factory inspection before rolling — it only shows up after unpacking on the other side of the ocean, which is exactly when it becomes the buyer’s problem, not the factory’s.
This is why foam layer selection and adhesive bonding aren’t just comfort specifications — they are directly tied to shipping risk. A high-SAG-factor foam and a delamination-resistant water-based bond are what determine whether the mattress a buyer orders is the same mattress that arrives at the destination port.
